Circlio legal
A neighbourhood worth showing up for.
Circlio is for real local connection. These rules apply to every member, host, organiser, circle, event, message, and post.
Why these rules exist
Online behaviour has real-world consequences when people live nearby and meet offline. These guidelines are designed to protect dignity, privacy, and safety—not to make Circlio feel policed. They sit alongside our Terms & Conditions and apply wherever you use Circlio.
Be real
- Use your own identity and complete verification honestly. Do not impersonate anyone or use another person's document, photo, or account.
- Represent your circle, event, availability, venue, and business honestly. Do not create misleading listings, fake attendance, or deceptive promotions.
- Do not create duplicate accounts, sell or transfer an account, or use Circlio to build a database of people.
Treat people with respect
- Do not harass, threaten, bully, stalk, shame, intimidate, or repeatedly contact someone who has not welcomed it.
- Do not post hate speech or target anyone because of caste, religion, race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic.
- Respect boundaries. A lack of response is not an invitation to continue. Do not pressure anyone to meet, share contact details, share a location, or disclose personal information.
Keep people safe
- Do not share sexually explicit content, exploit or endanger a child, encourage self-harm, glorify violence, or make credible threats.
- Do not bring weapons, illegal drugs, or dangerous activity into Circlio events or use the platform to plan illegal activity.
- Never ask another member for passwords, OTPs, banking information, government-ID details, or money through pressure or deception.
- Use public, appropriate venues for first meetings and follow local safety guidance. If someone is in immediate danger, contact emergency services first; in India, call 112.
Respect privacy
- Do not share, screenshot, record, track, or publish another person's private messages, location, images, identity documents, phone number, or other personal information without permission.
- Do not try to identify someone's exact home, workplace, routine, or precise location from Circlio's map or any other information.
- Do not use Circlio to collect personal data for marketing, surveillance, recruitment, credit decisions, or any purpose people did not agree to.
Host responsibly
Hosts and organisers set the tone for a safe gathering. If you create a circle or event, you must:
- give accurate information about the time, location, cost, access requirements, age restrictions, and cancellation policy;
- obtain any permissions, licences, insurance, or venue approval required for the activity;
- act promptly on credible safety concerns, discrimination, harassment, or fraud; and
- not charge for, advertise, or operate an event in a way that is illegal, unsafe, or misleading.
Circlio may remove or restrict any circle or event that does not meet these standards.
No scams, spam, or manipulation
- Do not use phishing, pyramid schemes, investment schemes, fake jobs, fake giveaways, undisclosed paid promotion, or any other fraud.
- Do not send bulk, repetitive, irrelevant, or commercial messages. Commercial activity needs to be clearly disclosed and allowed by Circlio.
- Do not scrape the Services, bypass security controls, introduce malware, manipulate engagement, or use bots without written permission.
Reports & enforcement
Use the in-app reporting and blocking tools whenever something feels unsafe or violates these rules. Include enough context for us to investigate. We may use automated tools and trained reviewers to assess reports.
Depending on severity and history, we may remove content, limit visibility or features, pause a circle or event, issue a warning, suspend or permanently remove an account, preserve records, or refer a matter to the appropriate authority. We may act without notice where safety or law requires it.
Appeals & contact
If you believe an enforcement action was mistaken, reply through the relevant in-app notice or contact our Grievance Officer with the details of the decision. You can find the process and response timelines on our Grievance Officer page.
We may update these guidelines as Circlio evolves. Material changes will be reflected in the date above.
